American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA)

Kam Shams, Chairman of TSG, is the faculty for the Healthcare Data Analytics Specialty Advancement Program. The objective of the program is to develop the health information management professional's understanding of the data warehouse, an enterprise-wide knowledge management tool in the following areas: developing skills in applying analytic techniques to querying healthcare data warehouses, discovering patterns and associations in this data, and predicting future trends and behaviors from those patterns.

As part of this program, Kam Shams has conducted the Healthcare Data Analytics Hands-On Computer Lab at The AHIMA Assembly On Education (AOE) Summer Symposium in Columbus, Ohio in June 2003.  Kam has also presented the same lab at AHIMA 75th National Convention in Minneapolis, Minnesota in October 2003.  The objective of the workshop is to improve healthcare educators’ ability to teach knowledge management concepts, and help HIM professionals assume leadership roles in knowledge management for their organizations.
